I interviewed Whoopi Goldberg yesterday at the DIFFA fundraiser at the St. Regis. We had the chance to chat quietly in the very chic David Rockwell-designed bar by ourselves after I turned off my recorder. Of course we talked about Ann Coulter and how harried that View interview on Monday was, plus what it's like to be Whoopi Goldberg each morning. She was really sweet and thoughtful, a rare breed of celebrity after so many years of success. I left feeling better for having met her. Whoopi and Meryl Streep sit atop my all-time favorites list.
